| Came across this while online recently:
http://hellhousemovie.com A "religious themed" haunted house that is one big "sermon", apparently. Looks like the aim is to "scare people straight" in a spiritual sense. I gotta wonder. Is using a haunted house, as well intentioned as this one appears to be, a good vehicle to get a spiritual message across? Not to sound naive here, just got me to thinking.
| I figured that I would post a pic of this little pup here on Xanga while I have a little time:
This is Tuffy, my folks new addition to their family. She's 9 weeks old and full of energy. She'll prove to be plenty of fun.
| Ok! Here I am, 48 hours removed from the two-weeker. As expected, it was a great spiritual feast and I'm grateful for the experience. Now, anybody who reads this will notice a major lack of photos, which is unusual for me when I post regarding things and events such as these. In fact, the only photo I took the entire time that I was there was this one below:
Granted, this wasn't one of my better efforts, but time and light were running short, and I wanted to get a shot or two of the festivities before leaving for the evening. The reason I stopped taking pictures after this one was because somebody who happened to be in the shot when it was taken was of the opinion that me and my taking pictures was "very weird". First of all, lots of people were taking pics throughout the meeting. Secondly, the above photo was a shot of the pavilion in general, not one particular person. And third, to the person who said it, the above comment wasn't the least bit necessary! Thus, I thought to myself "Forget about it!" when it comes to pics. Again, this meeting was a great experience for me, apart from this one little issue. I felt this was the forum to get my message across. I felt that comment above deserved a response. Later! EDIT(8/16/09)- About the pic, I realize that it may not be a "Christ-Like" type of behavior to say what I said in the post i.e. not turning the other cheek. But, the comment that me and my picture taking that was made in the post just bothered me. Thus, I felt I needed to respond to the above comment made regarding the photo that I took during the meeting.
| Hello everyone, Just wanted to drop a line and wish evrybody well at the onset of the two-weeker. BTW, in my last post, I referred to the Commonwealth of Pennsyvania as "the nation's armpit". I freely admit that the "the nation's armpit" was the wrong term to use in describing this state. Now that I think of it, "the nation's septic tank" would fit better! Also, I'm wondering if anyone gets the pop culture reference stated in my timeline. If not, I'll post what it is in my next post when I return. See you soon! | | |
| Finally! Here are a few pics from the 2009 Bolivar Meeting. The Xanga photo uploader is cooperating now!
Our brand new "marquee"! Looks great!
Bill Deyarmin, long-time member and activity coordinating man!
Wade Stanley, one of our teachers this year. A fine evangelist and brother who has all of his ducks in a row, and in more ways than one!
Bob and Sharon Cummings, two faithful laborers in the vineyard of the Lord.
Here is Leah Duncan with her young son, Chris! Donna Miller is admiring the young guy on the right.
And lastly, our other teacher and evangelist, John Morris! John, like Wade, gave some wonderful lessons during his time with us, and we are all indeed thankful! Well, I'll see you all in about two 2 1/2 weeks at the 2009 Two-Weeker! I'm really looking forward to what is shapng up to be a great "KC Fest '09"! See you all then, Lord Wiling!
